Essential Drive Maintenance using Evidence Eliminator
Using "ScanDisk" to correct Windows "Hard Drive
Full" messages.
After one of your programs crashes, or Windows experiences a glitch,
errors can accumulate on your drives. One of the common minor errors
to appear on most drives over a period of time, is that Windows
gets confused about the amount of free space on the drive. If these
errors are allowed to build up, and if you use Evidence Eliminator
on the drive, windows pops up a message box: "Hard Drive Full".
You can ignore, or cancel this error box and Evidence Eliminator
doesn't stop running. To prevent it appearing and to make sure your
drives are properly cleaned every time run "ScanDisk"
regularly.
Running Scandisk before starting Evidence Eliminator is good practice:
For the serious user it is an essential task of good drive
and Windows maintenance. Keep your drive working perfectly, and
Evidence Eliminator will clean it for you perfectly every time you
need it.
ScanDisk is a Microsoft program supplied in Windows95/98 in both
DOS and Windows versions. DOS ScanDisk is the blue "Drive Scan"
that Windows defaults to on reboot if you didn't shut down Windows
properly the last time it closed. The best version of ScanDisk for
use before running Evidence Eliminator is ScanDisk For Windows.
From your Start Menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> System
Tools -> ScanDisk. It will automatically fix errors as it runs.
If your hard drive is in good working condition then there is no
need to perform the "Surface Scan".
If you use Evidence Eliminator's function to randomize
the dates and times of files on your PC, we recommend you go into
ScanDisk options and switch OFF the function that corrects file
dates & times. ScanDisk will otherwise "repair" any
dates set in the future and un-do the randomization process to some
extent.
